Program Description
Thayer Learning Center is military style boarding school located in Kidder, Missouri. Students at Thayer Learning Center are taught the traditional values of respect, honesty, and hard work through a strict schedule, disciplined environment, and reality based program. Students are given the opportunity to earn their own respect and position within the program giving them a sense of confidence and accomplishment. Typical stay at Thayer Learning Center is one year. If you are interested in a more short term program, starting May 12th Thayer Learning Center is now offering a summer boot camp that will help jump start your teen for a more productive year. Thayer Learning Center is a boot camp for teens who have made poor choices, and need help getting back on the right track. Typical Student
Thayer Learning Center works with teens ages 13-17 who are typically:- disobedient,
- ungrateful,
- experimenting with sex, drugs, and/or alcohol,
- don’t care about school,
- making poor choices
- need a wake up call
Academics
Thayer Learning Center values education. When students enter the program they typically do not realize that school is a privilege. For the first phase of the program, students are taken through an academic skills review. This allows our teachers to assess each students individual needs, and also prepares students to start working on their individual courses. This also allows a certain period of time to focus specifically on their behavior. Thayer Learning Center works with an independent study program called Penn Foster. This is one of the largest independent study programs and they are nationally and regionally accredited, meaning your student will be able to transfer back to their high-school using the credits earned at Thayer Learning Center. Students have the ability to move at their own pace and learning ability. Certified teachers and trained tutors are provided at every stage of their education.
Tuition
