Program Type

Glacier Mountain is a year round open enrollment program for at-risk teenagers. The Glacier Mountain programs involve behavioral and emotional modification. Most of our students have been making unhealthy choices due to poor life skills.

Program Description

The Glacier Mountain Academy started in 1995 and is located in Sandpoint, Idaho. Our goal is to integrate the student back into the family unit and help him stay on track academically when they return home. Most of our students have had unpleasant experiences academically which have led to low self-esteem, lack of motivation, anger, disrespect for authority figures, and some experimentation with drugs and alcohol. At Glacier Mountain, students are provided with a certified academic program as well as specific substance abuse assessments and counseling. Additional program are available for promoting organizational skills, anger management, self-esteem building, leadership, team building, life skills, and decision-making skills. Individual and group counseling are part of the experience. Students completing the initial phase of the program, are given the opportunity to attend Sandpoint High School which helps complete the transition from our program to home.

Academics

Glacier Mountain Academy is licensed by the Department of Health and Welfare, State of Idaho, and academically accredited by the National Private School Association. Glacier Mountain Academy offers very unique academic options for students who are failing and behind in credits, those wanting to get a GED and diploma, and students who want to complete high school with the intention of going on to a community college or university.

When students first arrive at Glacier Mountain, they are gradually eased into academics. There are many ways to make up lost credits at our fully accredited school. Students are able to work on an individual basis at their own speed and all grades will transfer to the student’s next school, or he may stay and graduate from Glacier Mountain Academy. Students who want to pursue a GED are able to use that option as well as obtain a diploma.

Tuition

Monthly tuition is $4,100 with a $2,500 startup fee the first month. Quarterly payments are usually required.
